What is development project management?
It is standing between your company and whoever writes the code, so that you do not have to translate from one language to the other or chase anybody. We define the scope, break it into deliverables that can be reviewed, and check each one before signing it off.
When do you need it?
- The project has been «almost finished» for months and nobody can say how much is left.
- Every delivery opens two new problems and you end up testing what they hand you yourself.
- You have three suppliers pointing at each other whenever something breaks.
- What was delivered is not what you asked for, but the quote said something else and now there is nothing to hold on to.
How we work
The first thing we do is put in writing what is delivered and what is not, because half the projects that go wrong go wrong there and not in the code. From then on there are milestones with dates, a technical review of every delivery —not just a look to see whether it displays properly— and a single point of contact, which is us.
What you gain
You stop managing your supplier and go back to deciding about the project, which is your job, with somebody who can tell a reasonable delay from one that is not.
Tell us where your project stands and we will tell you what we would do.
